As part of our activities on the protection of the independence of
judges and lawyers, the ICJ undertakes observations of trials or other
legal proceedings where a judge or lawyer is under prosecution or
administrative sanction arising from the legitimate exercise of professional
duties. As well, the ICJ will send observers to trials where there
is reason to believe that the judge is corrupt. A report is filed
by an observer and then published by the ICJ with recommendations
to governmental authorities. The ICJ covers all travel expenses.
